The 1st KATHINA: Sunday, November 4th. 10:30 start. After a harmonious and fruitful rains retreat the community will celebrate the end of the vassa, the three-months long retreat. The Kathina tradition was established by the Buddha over 2500 years ago and is the largest alms-giving ceremony of the Buddhist year. The focus is on the offering of robe cloth to the Sangha with the event generally being a most meritorious and joyful occasion. And on that day the monks have to sew also the robe and offer it to one of its own monks who has been the most outstanding of this year. All are very welcome to come and join us.
